Tummy Tuck
Having excess skin and fat in your stomach area can make you feel unhealthy and out of shape. Women and men throughout the Pacific Northwest choose a tummy tuck in Seattle (abdominoplasty surgery) to treat cosmetic concerns including bulging and excess fat tissue in the lower abdomen, loose skin on the stomach, laxity or widening of the abdominal muscles, and unsightly scars or stretch marks in the lower abdomen.
A tummy tuck in the Seattle area can help you achieve a more sculpted abdomen, but the procedure will not correct generalized obesity. Patients ideally suited for this procedure should have a BMI (Body Mass Index) of 29 or less. Abdominoplasty is about body contouring, not weight loss.
To experience the art, innovation, and excellence of our practice for yourself, request your complimentary consultation online, or call our office at 866-692-9226. Dr. Braden C. Stridde works closely with every one of his tummy tuck patients to provide accurate, honest information and address every concern.
Your Seattle / Tacoma Abdominoplasty Surgery
Tummy tucks are performed under general anesthesia. After making an incision across the lower abdomen, Dr. Stridde trims skin and fat tissue and retightens loose abdominal muscles. Once these areas of the abdomen have been reshaped, the incision is closed, the belly button is recreated, and drains are placed. Most patients who choose tummy tuck surgery at our surgery center are able to go home the same day and can return to their usual daily activities in about two weeks.
At Puget Sound Plastic Surgery, Dr. Stridde routinely uses pain pumps when performing abdominoplasty. This device, placed at the time of surgery, significantly decreases the level of discomfort during the first four to five days following surgery. Oral pain medication is still needed but patients are much more comfortable and able to move about more easily with the pain pump installed. In addition to greater comfort, the pain pump may help to guard against other risks following Seattle abdominoplasty surgery.
A tummy tuck is an excellent procedure for mothers who want to erase the physical effects of pregnancy. In fact, the procedure often is combined with breast enhancement surgery such as breast augmentation at our Seattle area practice for a customized mommy makeover procedure. Abdominoplasty is also appropriate for women and men who have achieved significant weight loss through bariatric surgery or their own diet and exercise plan.
Recovery after Surgery
Tummy tuck surgeon Dr. Braden Stridde will provide post-operative instructions on caring for your incisions and bathing techniques. You will be encouraged to start walking as soon as possible to help your body heal and guard against the risk of blood clot formation. A support garment will help protect the surgical area and improve the cosmetic outcome of your body contouring procedure.
You can begin adding exercise back into your routine after a few weeks, but vigorous exercise needs to be avoided until your incisions have healed sufficiently. Scars should begin to lighten and flatten out within three to six months and may continue to improve for up to a year. Dr. Stridde takes steps to minimize the appearance of scars and place scars where they will be well concealed in a bathing suit or underwear. To enjoy your results for the long-term, continue to eat healthful foods and exercise regularly.
