Your Seattle / Tacoma Smartlipo Procedure

Smartlipo can be used to remove diet-resistant fat almost anywhere on the body, including the abdomen, hips, thighs, upper arms, and chin. In fact, Smartlipo is able to treat areas that are too small for traditional methods. Unfortunately, some individuals have not had satisfactory results when treated with other liposuction techniques. Smartlipo is an excellent procedure for improving and refining areas previously treated by other liposuction methods.

To begin the procedure, Dr. Stridde makes very small incisions on the periphery of the area being treated. At our practice in Seattle, we use the tumescent liposuction technique in which a sterile solution containing local anesthetic is injected into the treatment area.Then the Smartlipo laser probe is inserted which disrupts the target fat cells. The laser technology is specifically designed to target fat cells while producing minimal injury to the surrounding tissue.

This laser light also coagulates small blood vessels, thus minimizing bleeding and reducing bruising. Another benefit of the Smartlipo device is that the fine laser probe allows for very accurate fat contouring, and heating of the undersurface of the skin results in improved skin tightening and contraction. The procedure can generally be performed in one to two hours, depending on the location and amount of fat being removed.

By using the latest Smartlipo MPX system, Dr. Stridde is able to reduce treatment time and improve tissue tightening when compared to the already revolutionary original Smartlipo device. Recovery after Surgery

Recovery is another area where Smartlipo outperforms. Many of Dr. Stridde's patients are ready to return to work and their other daily activities within a couple days of their Smartlipo procedure. Because many patients need only local anesthesia with oral or IV sedation, they are able to avoid the side effects of general anesthesia - nausea, grogginess, and disorientation. Most patients are ready to head home in less than an hour after their procedure.

Dr. Stridde will provide you with prescription pain medication and compression bandages to help you maximize your results. Expect some bruising and swelling following your procedure, but keep in mind that Smartlipo can reduce these aftereffects so that you are ready to enjoy your results more quickly.
