Rhinoplasty
Maybe your nose is a little crooked, or maybe you're bothered by an unflattering bump on the bridge. Whatever the issue, when you look in the mirror your nose just doesn't seem to "fit" your face. The nose is a defining facial characteristic, and if you're considering Seattle area cosmetic nose surgery (rhinoplasty), you need to take the time to find a surgeon who has the skills to deliver the look you want.
Most plastic surgeons believe that rhinoplasty is one of the most challenging of all cosmetic surgery procedures. This is due to the fact that the nose is in a very prominent part of the face and small changes as little as a millimeter can result in a significant visual difference.
For this reason, Puget Sound Plastic Surgery uses computer imaging prior to performing rhinoplasty for Seattle / Tacoma area patients. Computer imaging helps Dr. Stridde's patients assess the potential changes that surgery can achieve. The computer image will not be 100% accurate but is performed so that you and your surgeon share the same mental image of what is desired and what is achievable.

Your Seattle Rhinoplasty
Nose surgery incisions can be made inside the nostrils (a "closed" rhinoplasty) or across the strip of skin in between the nostrils (an "open" procedure). Through these incisions, Dr. Stridde can resculpt bone and cartilage to refine the appearance of the nose. After the incisions are closed, a splint will be placed on the nose to protect it and support its new shape. The Seattle / Tacoma rhinoplasty procedures performed at Puget Sound Plastic Surgery generally take 2 to 4 hours to perform depending on the complexity of your surgery.
Recovery after Surgery
Patients should expect some discomfort for the first few days and prescription pain medication will be provided to minimize any discomfort. Seattle area rhinoplasty patients should expect some degree of swelling and bruising around the nose and eyes. Ice packs can be used to help limit and swelling and bruising and speed your healing. While much of the swelling will resolve within a few weeks, it will take a minimum of 6 months for the swelling to fully resolve and the final result to become apparent.
If rhinoplasty surgery is performed aggressively to create a dramatic early result, the final result after swelling has resolved may not be quite as satisfactory. With cosmetic nose surgery, patience is truly a virtue. You should be ready to return to work within about a week after your rhinoplasty.
