Facial Liposuction

Even fit and active individuals may have undesirable areas of excess fat on the face, jawline or neck that give a fleshy, poorly defined appearance. Women and men visit Dr. Braden Stridde for facial liposuction from Seattle and Tacoma, WA to attain a more refined look. He is able to carefully remove excess fat that causes a double chin, sagging jowls, or unflattering fullness in the face.

At work and in your personal life, people spend a lot of time looking at your face. Having excess fat in your face can give you the appearance of being heavy, even when your body is within a healthy weight range. After facial liposuction, people will often comment that you look like you've lost weight.

Your Facial Liposuction Procedure

Traditional liposuction originally was designed for body contouring. However, modern advances in surgical techniques and, in particular, the new Smartlipo™ device allow Dr. Stridde to subtly sculpt localized deposits of fat on the face. Following careful analysis of the problem areas, tiny incisions are made on the periphery of the area to be treated. Through these incisions, a tumescent solution containing local anesthetic is injected into the area that is being treated.

Next, a very fine Smartlipo laser probe is inserted to disrupt the fat cells and sculpt the area to create the desired contour. A small amount of the disrupted fat may be suctioned out through fine cannulas. Although only small amounts of disrupted fat cells are removed during this laser liposuction procedure, the result can be dramatic. After surgery (which usually takes about an hour) and the brief recovery period you can enjoy a slimmer, more sculpted facial contour.

For younger patients with good skin tone and relatively little sagging of facial tissue, liposculpture alone may achieve your cosmetic goals. For older patients, facial liposuction is often combined with procedures such as brow lift, eyelid surgery or a face lift to create a dramatically enhanced facial look. Men and women focused on gaining better definition in their chin or cheeks may also consider facial fat grafting, facial fillers, or facial implants to create a more sculpted profile.

Recovery after Surgery

For the first few days after the procedure, your face and neck will look slightly swollen and you may experience some modest bruising. Much of the swelling and/or bruising will usually subside within a week. As the swelling subsides, a more defined look in your neck and jaw line will emerge.

Be sure to carefully follow post-surgical instructions, including wearing surgical dressings and sleeping with your head elevated for several days, so that swelling can resolve as quickly as possible. Most patients are able to return to work or their other normal activities within a week.
