Complete Facial Renewal
In many cases, Dr. Stridde provides more comprehensive rejuvenation for his patients from Seattle and Tacoma by combining facelift surgery with a neck lift. A neck lift tightens skin and muscle on the neck and helps to create a more defined profile underneath the jaw. Dr. Stridde can perform other procedures in conjunction with face lift surgery to enhance results and complete the overall rejuvenation process. Popular options include:
During surgery, Dr. Stridde uses advanced surgical techniques to subtly lift both the skin and the SMAS tissue layer just beneath the skin, achieving a natural appearing, long lasting result. If a neck lift is being performed in conjunction with the facelift, Dr. Stridde will tighten the neck muscles and remove excess skin and fat to create a firmer appearance underneath the jaw. All incisions are planned and executed in a meticulous fashion to insure that scars are very inconspicuous when fully healed.
Superior results take time; therefore, a facelift requires several hours in surgery. If performed quickly, the results of a facelift usually do not last very long and a patient may be left with poorly located, visible scars. Since any facial rejuvenation surgery is a major investment in one's appearance, people considering a facelift are encouraged to take the time to research this procedure thoroughly. After all, it's your face and we want you to be happy with the results.
One of the advanced techniques Dr. Stridde often uses in his facelift procedures is fat transfer. His Seattle fat transfer patients benefit from added volume in the cheeks and other precise areas around the face that have begun to diminish with age. Facial aging is not caused by the drooping of skin alone, but also by the loss of volume. Fat transfer techniques have been highly refined in recent years and have become very effective in delicate areas such as the face, as long as they are performed by qualified plastic surgeons.
During this procedure, Dr. Stridde removes fat from another area of a patient's body through liposuction, then processes and transfers it to the face, where he injects it with a very fine needle. Patients appreciate the added benefit of losing unwanted fat in areas such as the abdomen and thighs, as well as the youthful rejuvenation the procedure brings to their facial contours. Recovery After Surgery
Most of the men and women who choose a facelift at Puget Sound Plastic Surgery experience only mild discomfort during recovery, and this is generally well-controlled with prescription medication. It is normal for patients to experience decreased facial skin sensation for several weeks to months following facial rejuvenation surgery. The sensation gradually returns to normal as the fine sensory nerves re-grow into the skin that was elevated during the facelift procedure.
Dr. Stridde will remove any bandages or drainage tubes within a couple days of your surgery. Surgical clips and sutures are removed by the first week. Bruising and swelling will occur for the first couple of weeks, and your face will look and feel tight. Many facelift surgery patients go through a period of mild depression during this healing phase and may question the wisdom of having a facelift procedure. These concerns will fade as a more natural look begins to reveal itself after 2 to 3 weeks.
Most patients are ready to return to work within about 10 to 14 days. Camouflage makeup can be worn to help cover any residual bruising. Dry skin is common for several weeks but can be controlled with a high quality moisturizer. All of our facelift patients are referred to our aesthetician for complimentary post-surgical lymphatic drainage and facial massage to ensure a rapid return to a normal appearance.
