BOTOX® Cosmetic
BOTOX® injections are the most frequently performed
minor procedure at Puget Sound Plastic Surgery. A purified
form of the toxin produced by botulism bacterium, BOTOX® Cosmetic
blocks the signal between facial muscles and their corresponding
nerves. BOTOX® Cosmetic diminishes the appearance
of frown lines between the brows for three to six months – the
time that the muscle is essentially paralyzed. A fast,
easy solution to removing brow lines, BOTOX® Cosmetic
requires virtually no recovery period and you can resume
your daily activities shortly after receiving BOTOX® injections
at our Puget Sound practice.
For best results, BOTOX® Cosmetic treatments should
be repeated before the muscles have a chance to return
to their pre- BOTOX® Cosmetic state. And with each
successive treatment, we’ve found that the effective
treatment period lengthens, thereby cutting down the
number of injections needed over a certain period of
time.

Restylane®
Restylane® is the newest solution for removing facial wrinkles
and imperfections. A natural cosmetic dermal filler, Restylane® is made
from a hyaluronic acid called NASHA™, or Non-Animal Stabilized
Hyaluronic Acid. Thus, unlike the injectant collagen, which is made
from a cow byproduct, allergy testing is unnecessary.
Restylane® can be used to treat facial wrinkles and folds, and
typically lasts about twice as long (six months) as a comparable collagen
treatment. And like BOTOX® Cosmetic, the effects of Restylane® are
enhanced when applied during the last part of the previous treatment’s
duration.
Unlike BOTOX® Cosmetic, Restylane® is a cosmetic filler. While
BOTOX® Cosmetic paralyzes underlying muscles to achieve a wrinkle-less
appearance, Restylane® fills them in. Contact

Lip Augmentation
Lip augmentation is a process where plumper, fuller lips are created
by way of injection of a soft tissue filler such as Restylane®.
Longer lasting lip augmentation solutions such as autologous fat transfer
are also available. The body will absorb most fillers in about six to
eight months. Repeat procedures are needed to maintain the fuller appearance.
